Xander had a whole night in a real nappy last night and no leakage! So now we are solely on real nappies and will only use disposable's when we go away. - i'm not lugging the nappy bucket around!
And yes they are much cheaper than the disposable's and we have also noticed that the rubbish has diminished by a third with no nappies in them. Yey we are preserving our environment!!
Off to Wellington this weekend for Granny's 50th, maybe Xander will crawl while we're there!?!
He is drooling up a storm and grizzly so despite the excitement of his first tooth i don't think the next ones will be far to appear.

First Tooth

Yey, we have a tooth! 27/05/06 is the day of Xander's first tooth. We discovered it on his lower left gum while at Harvey Normans and i was estatic! Alan didn't beleive me - i don't think he wanted his little man to become a big man just yet!
Xander is talking up a storm these last few days, cooing and giggling all day, not to mention being very clever and sitting up for hours!
I have updated some photos of Xander's first shoes also (they as so tiny!)

Wet Wet Wet

Oh my goodness, i have changed Xander's complete outfit 4 times already today as he has wet right through. I've had to go back to disposables today as none of the outer wraps for the real nappies are clean/dry! and i'm running out of clean clothes too! Hopefully the booster pads that Alan has ordered will arrive soon. I will have to use these during the day as well as at night for which they are intended!
Xander hates parsnip, he wouldn't eat it with any combination, however i tried it for his lunch today with apple and he ate it - yey! Cooking up a storm of veges and fruit for him today, our freezer is bulging.
He has started re-examining his hands and moving his fingers so i think he has discovered he can move them individually. Any toy he discovers that makes a sound he delights in waving them frantically, which is not fun when he suddenly lets go. Now that he's sitting confidently by himself he entertains himself more which is good, just have to put a pillow behind him for when he loses his balance - ouch!
Oh and i've updated more photos :)

Happy Traveller

Well Wellington was hopping when we got there - not to mention cold and windy! - Mum's graduation ceremony was great, i particularly liked how the opera singer ended up getting me naked (thanks Nanna for cleaning me up!). I slept through most of the dinner that night but apparently we were supposed to be in 3 places at once (oops Nanna!). The weekend had us staying with Granny, Grandpa and Aunty Angie and we did so much shopping i was very tired. But i got baths in front of the fire and cuddles with Opa and Bridget and Lachlan and lots of fun.
I liked the plane ride down, i had fun banging the tray table in front of me, i was very tired on the way home and missed most of the flight back, but boy was i excited to see my daddy! I told him all about my weekend and how much fun i had and i got lots of cuddles from him in return.
Mum has updated some photos but Grandad has all the graduation ones.

On the go!

It has been a week of accomplishments! Xander can now sit up by himself - you sit him up unaided and he stays there for about 5 minutes! and yesterday he pushed himself forward an inch! He is totally on the go now! There will be no holding him back.
We're off to Wellington tomorrow, so it will be Xander's first flight which should be interesting!
Photos have been updated and don't forget to check the family folder too!

new photos

I have updated some more photos of Xander sitting up by himself - he doesn't do it for long but enough to take a photo! And he is still fascinated with tags and labels!

6 months old

Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday dear Xander
Happy birthday to you - 6 months old!!

Our wee treasure weighs 8kg and is gobbling down his solids faster than we can get it on the spoon! Tried some combinations for lunch today - he gagged at parsnip, kumara and potato, but then ate apple, kumara and baby rice, so we shall persevere with the others just in smaller quantities and mixed with what he loves - carrots and pumpkin!
It is still a huge delight to see him smile with pure pleasure whenever he sees you, and that smile is still infectious.
Still no tooth but it is definately coming - he has a raised red bump on his lower gum.
His first airplane ride is a week away, we shall see how that goes....

Growing up

It's so hard to believe that Xander is going to be six months old in two days time! He looks less and less like a baby and more like a little boy every day. Cheeky monkey now blows raspberries, thinks he's so cool sitting in his high chair and his car seat (capsule has gone now!), loves eating from a spoon - go the orange food! - and delights in trying to sit up.
The last two nights Xander has slept all night - halellujah! - but his gums are giving him some grief still, but still no tooth. His hair has grown and it covers his whole head now rather than in patches and when he smiles you can't help but smile back.
Grandad got nothing but tears over the weekend while everyone else was blessed with his smile and then Sunday morning he got the best smile of them all!
photos have been updated.

Night terror

Well i now have to bite my tongue. Our previous all night sleeper has become a night time monster! I was up all night with Xander last night and i can't see why. At 11pm, after sitting with him for an hour i gave him some Pamol thinking his gums may be giving him some grief but by that time i was wide awake so i did the housework and didn't get to bed til midnight. At 4.15 was rudely awoken by his screams. To quiet him i gave in and fed him and he didn't wake up until 7.30 this morning.
We went to the baby on board session at the movies, but Xander lost him dummy and i couldn't find it so had to take the screaming child out, thereby missing the ending.
I thought he was sick earlier in the week as he had been very sleepy for about 4 days and then had a terrible nappy, so off to the doctor - $5 later (wish my own visits were as cheap!) nothing is wrong, so i put it down to teething and probably growth spurt.
Friend is giving us a safety sleep next week so hopefully the nights will get better!
Don't laugh please, i'm so tired if i heard you i'd probably hit ya!
