First Presents

Ang and Jeremy came around today and gave Xander his first christmas presents!
At first he didn't know what was going on and then seemed to remember how to open presents and he ripped into them.

He's going to have so much fun knocking the cups over and is already fascinated with the blocks and where they go in the box!

hey, what;s up?

Xander went to see lots of christmas decorations at Alan's work on wednesday - i swear his eyes got bigger and bigger with all the lights, and it was capped with a jump on the bouncy castle! On the way home he was babbling away and then suddenly silence....he fell asleep mid-babble and didn't wake until 6.00 the next morning. (i roused his slightly at about 8.30 and changed his nappy and put him in pj's but he slept right through)

He thinks he is the bees knees being able to climb onto the couch. His favourite game at the moment is climbing up with his ball, dropping the ball off the side and then getting down and starting all over again.

weekend of wonders

Yey, Xander finally wore shoes on Saturday and took a walk down the aisles at the supermarket.
Alan took Xander to the Waikato Cup races and he got to stroke two horses, he had a ball eating hotdogs, chips and an icecream while i got to spend an afternoon to myself.

We cut his hair this morning! Oh no, you say but his hair was gorgeous. Yes but it was getting very untidy and scruffy looking.

Before

Snip snip

We sat him in his highchair and Alan cut it all off. He looks very different now - he looks older!

Mummy and i went to the pet shop yesterday and they had little doggies and kitty cats and very colourful birds. It was so fun when the doggies licked and nibbled on my fingers! I loved the birds best though, they are so funny and pretty.

On his feet

Xander doesn't crawl anymore. He walks everywhere and is even trying to run! He gathers his legs under himself, stands up from a crouch and off he trots. Definately no stopping him now, he is so fast. He does like to hold my hand and walk though which is great, but i can see us eventually purchasing some kiddy reigns!

He thinks he is so clever. Xander discovered he can climb up onto the couch - much to my horror, i have to move things even higher up now! - and loves to sit there watching cartoons or reading books. He thinks it a great game to climb up and then climb from one couch to the other giggling the whole time - oh and pointing at the flowers on the window sill and the christmas lights.

I can't believe how cute he is. Here he is sitting cross-legged munching on his favourite snack - raisins - and watching cartoons. Every scan during pregnancy showed his legs crosses at the ankles and he still does it - i think it is fantastic!

wail of a time!

Xander and i had a little outing yesterday. We went to the movies to catch the new James Bond movie. Xander had a great time pacing the aisles and talking with Eden...that is until the movie started! It was very loud and lots of gunshots etc and Xander was very tired but couldn't sleep, so we had tears and wail and eventually screams that carried us out of the movie only half way through! Oh well. I changed his nappy, gave him a snack and waited for the end of movie for the other ladies to come out and he fell asleep just as they walked out the door. Off we trotted to lunch at the Satay noodle house, yum, yum.
Xander had a two hour sleep and then had a yummy pasta dinner and then was in bed by 6.50pm, i wasn't far behind, in bed by 8.30pm.

What's going on??

On Saturday we put up the Christmas tree and Xander didn't know what was going on! He was enthralled with the decorations, especially the lights. I can't wait for this christmas as he will have a better idea as to what is happening and will be able to open his own presents.

It was so sunny over the weekend, we played outside on the grass, being sunsmart of course with sunscreen and hats. Xander figured out how to climb up on the couch on Sunday. Our little Monkey really is a Monkey now!

What's he up to??

Just thought i should let you all know that Xander is practically running up and down the hallway everyday! It is just so cute how he picks up his ball runs down the hallway, lets it go and chases it! He hates shoes! I put them on his feet and he performs and carries on until they are off. We have been playing with them lately, putting them on and off his feet - his game! - hopefully he will get used to them soon.

He is also trying to stack his cups - not successful quite yet - and loves to push them over. He does have lots of fun putting them inside each other though!

He is fascinated with my wardrobe. He looks at the baby in the mirror, looks behind it to see if he's there, walks through to double check and then giggles when he comes out the other side!

Sunny and Baby Signs

Today is such a beautiful day! After Xander's sleep and morning tea i took him off to the river to feed the ducks. We donned our hats and slathered on sun screen and went for the lovely walk to the river. We stopped many times on the way as Xander kept spying birds and as i am teaching him baby signs i was showing him the sign for bird - flapping my arms at my sides; yes Alan is laughing at me!. Also flowers were another item on our signs list for the day, so we stopped and sniffed many flowers.
I have been reading this book called 'Baby Signs' that can help our baby communicate with us. Like when he is pointing at something out the window i guess what he is talking about, but by teaching him signs he can point and then sign and then we can talk about it. Apparently it is really helpful and teaches him to talk really early too.
We were so successful with the flower sign - sniffing - that when we got home, all he wanted to do was sniff the fake flowers on our window sill!

At the river he loved the ducks. I sat with him on the grass and fed the ducks but they were coming way too close for comfort, but Xander loved it. I then plonked us down on the ramp and fed them that way, but all Xander wanted to do was crawl off into the water - all those swimming lessons have taught him how to get into the water, so watch out!
We saw many dogs and Xander was in giggles as they licked his fingers and he got to pat their - sometimes wet! - coats.

After lunch Xander drove his trolley up and down the driveway and we had a chat with Sam and Tracey who live at the front flat. Sam is 3 and we went to the swings yesterday afternoon with him, Xander loved it!
