Coming along nicely

Nanna stayed with us all last week and it was great - all the washing was done and i didn't have to worry about anything. Xander loved the company, although i think he prefered the new cat to anyone else!We got a cat last week. Her name is Rascal (suits her name too!) and she is about 4-5 months old. She adores Xander, follows him around the house and so far hasn't really scratched him. The first thing Xander signs in the morning is Cat rather than Food, which is nice. He is also sleeping in most mornings until 7am - Yey!

He is coming along very nicely with his signs and he has started saying "Ta" which usually comes out as "aa Daaa", and he is mooing like a cow when we or he makes the sign.

Xander is a bit of a rascal as well as the cat, he throws a tantrum when he doesn't get what he wants - which is about 10 times a day, i try to distract him with other things but it is getting harder and harder to keep my cool as i am tired and short tempered at the moment too.
Xander is in for the shock of his life tomorrow. I'm dropping him off at Michaela's mother's house for the day so i can have a rest and do my housework in peace. It will be interesingt as to how he takes it! (or rather me, i may go and pick him up early!)

Hospital visit

Xander had an appointment with the surgeon on Tuesday and they have said the lump is going down nicely, and they have scheduled another procedure for April. This is just to ensure that is goes away completely.
He had his 15 month immunisation shots today. He screamed cos apparently the MMR ones really sting, and the side effects don't come along for 5-12 days! Nanna cried too it was funny.

Back from our holiday

It is amazing what we can get up to with a toddler on holiday.
He played in the sandpit and paddling pool at his Granny's house, then when we went to the Bach in Whangamata he paddled in the pool there and loved the waves. He wasn't keen on the sinking sand, i think he felt a bit out of control with his sinking feet!
Everyday, all he did was eat, sleep and swim, he had a ball!
On the final day he loved helping Granny tidy up and you can see all the pictures in the Whangamata folder.
Alan got to do some surf casting which he was been wanting to do for ages, and i got to sleep lots and i put on a belly - could have been cos i was eating lots, or maybe it's twins?!

On Holiday

We are away on holiday at the moment so you won't get any new posts or photos until we get back on the 19th Feb. Then we will update with photos from Nichola's wedding, visiting Wellington and of course our great time in Whangamata at the beach!!
Just to let you know that Xander went to Plunket on Monday for his 15 month check up and he is all healthy and fine (apart from his lump!), he weighed in at a whopping 11.5kg and is 77.5-78cms tall!
Will catch up with everyone shortly.

Virus attack

Poor Xander had a temperature and started shaking yesterday at lunch time. Of course i was immediately alarmed and didn't know if i should go to the hospital or the doctor. In the end i went to the doctor and he had a very high temperature of 39.2 degrees (should be about 35.5) so he gave Xander some paracetamol and checked all vital functions. We went back at 2 which he had asked us to and i got him to recheck Xander's rash - which i and the mothers at lollipops had decided was just a heat rash - because it had spread down his arms and legs and looked a bit pimply. Doctor confirmed a viral rash and prescribed some ibufrofen to help with the fever and lower his temperature, otherwise couldn't do much else except let it run its course.
So after a patchy night sleep for all three of us, Xander bunked with us, we are a bit better, his temperature is not as high 37.6 degrees but still high enough to make him uncomfortable.
