Windy Wellington

Today we went into town and visited Alan's nanna. She was so pleased to see the kids and thought Esmee was just gorgeous. Of course she couldn't keep her eyes of her great grandson either!
We then had lunch with my Aunty Pauline and cousin-in-law Maria, which was lovely.

We came home and Esmee and I had a nice sleep while Jenny looked after Xander - he refused to have more than 20 minutes sleep! I woke to him crying and he had slipped over on the driveway and cut his lip.
My friend Joanne came round for a visit and adored our children - who wouldn't!

Mum and i went to the movies last night and left Dad and Jenny to babysit. It was so nice to go out and the kids were just awesome going to sleep quickly and without a fuss.

Esmee is rolling all day long now - but only going to the right so i have to work on the other way too.
Xander is missing Alan heaps, he told me we were going home now to see daddy. poor thing.

Love it in Wellington

The plane trip was really good - both kids were well behaved with no tears. Esmee loved looking at everyone and Xander was chatting with the lady in front of him.
The first thing Xander said when we landed was "Nanna and Grandad." When he saw them he was so excited and talked a mile a minute.
When we got home he washed grandad's car
and his bike. He just loved the hose!
He then got to see Grandad's trains. It was so cool, he even saw Thomas!

Esmee has been wreathed in smiles from wake to sleep - more than her normal smiley self, she is loving the attention. She rolls to her tummy at every available opportunity and i've caught her a time or two trying it in her bed! She had been having a bottle and solids every night from a different person and is just loving it, sleeping every morning until 6.30!

Today we went and had lunch with Nanna in town and then went and saw Opa. Xander was so excited to see him and Esmee was all smiles. She particularly loved touching his hands, she was fascinated. Xander just wanted to talk talk talk, but unfortunately Opa didn't hear most of it but he was very happy to see the kids.Nanna and Grandad and Jenny have been treated to dinner on the table as soon as they come home. They are enjoying the time with Xander,

and Xander is eating most of his dinner only when Grandad tells him to - i think he is slightly afraid of being growled at by him, which he hasn't been. He just loves his Grandad!

Xander gave us a bit of a fright tonight. I was cooking dinner and Xander was sitting on the front steps waiting for Nanna and Grandad to get home. I looked up and he was gone. i ran outside calling his name, but no reply, i looked down the street and couldn't see him. Nanna and Grandad arrived and i ran inside to check the rooms, he wasn't there. Dad took off in the car to search the street, mum ran next door to see if he was looking for the new kitten, i raced round the back and there he was giggling sitting at the table in the gazebo. Well i burst into tears of relief and he soon joined me. I never again want to feel that fear. It was terrible.

Going on a Plane

Well we are all packed and ready to go - i have been mostly packed since Tuesday! - on the plane to Wellington in the morning.
Xander is really excited. I bought him a little book about going on the plane so that we have talked about it and i hope he won't be afraid of the noises. - he hates loud noises like the vacuum cleaner and lawn mower but loves helping with them when they aren't going.
He is so excited about going to stay with Nanna and Granddad. I bet he's dreaming of all the lollies Nanna will sneak him!
i will try to update the blog regularly while we are down there but there won't be any photos until we get home - Dad's computer is really old and he doesn't have the necessary software for it!

Xander now has kindy two days a week. Monday and Tuesday mornings.
This week Tuesday was pretty good. He was all clingy in the morning when i said we were going to kindy and he kept saying that mummy and Esmee were coming too.
When i went to leave he was climbing up me to take him with me, i felt terrible leaving him when he was screaming for a hug.
When i got there to pick him up he was waiting at the gate and happily said, "Hello mummy." when i got the gate he burst into tears, so happy to see me. Apparently he stopped crying five minutes after i left and was happy as.
When we get back from Wellington we will regularly be going on monday and tuesday so it should get much easier for him.

Five months old

I can't believe Esmee is five months old already! It seems with a second child things go way too fast.
She weighs 6.3 kg and is 63cms long - at this age Xander was 7.5kg and 65cms long.
On wednesday she rolled over from her back to her tummy and does it all day now - still hates going the other way but i will keep it up.

She also took 50mls of formula last night before her solids which was great - if i give her a feed after 4pm i don't have enough to satisfy her at her last feed at 7pm, so i am trying to give her a bottle at around 4pm when she demands a feed.
Poor thing had her 5 months immunisation jabs this morning - i hate holding them down while they do it - as soon as the nurse touched her leg to do the third one she started crying because she knew what was coming. it was horrible, but luckily she was quickly back to her smiling, gurgling self only seconds after the nurse was done!

Esmee is trying to roll over from her back to her stomach. She hates rolling from her tummy to back and just cries until i roll her myself - i try to let her do it but she gets so upset!

Luckily i have put the safety sleep on her bed as i have found her a few times half rolled over.
Today she woke up and Xander heard her squeaking so went to investigate. I soon heard giggles from both of them. Xander was playing peek a boo much to Esmee's delight, he did it again in the bath and she soaked it up!She only has eyes for Xander when he is around - he's her idol and i can see her following him everywhere when she is older.

Esmee is also trying to sit by herself. I lay her half prone and she tries so hard to pull herself all the way up to sit. It won't be long before she does it as i can let go when she is sitting and she sits there for two seconds before falling forwards or sideways.

Xander had kindy today. He was really excited as all week i explained that i would leave him there to play and then Esmee and I will come back and get him. He repeats "mummy come get me, Xander", "play self".
So i left him to it. Apparently he had a couple of grizzles but the teachers were able to distract him.

When i got there to pick him up, i entered the gate and heard him say, "mummy here, yay!" and then he burst into tears! He was so happy that i had come to get him. Poor thing was beside himself for a good five minutes.
All the way home he kept repeating, "Xander miss mummy", "try find mummy" and he would have a little sob. Just too cute to know that my baby does miss me - i think this is really good for him, as it teaches him that he can have time away from mum and i will ALWAYS come and get him.

Xander and Alan got their hair cut on sunday. Xander has had one professional haircut and this is his second but the only one that we got a photo of! He was really excited to sit next to dad and was fascinated with the hair accumulating on the ground. He loved that he had a wiggles cape on too.
The hairdresser didn't do a very good job - he looks like he had a bowl on his head and she shaved around it! oh well, it will grow.

Esmee watched closely sucking her thumb - it was so cute.

He's a big Kid now!

This morning was Xander's first day at Kindy. He was really excited about wearing his new yellow bag and using his new lunchbag.
We got to Kindy and he immediately started climbing over all the outside toys, and down the slide. He didn't want to sit still at mat time and then got stuck into the painting, which is when Esmee and i left him to it.

I rang half an hour after i left and he'd had a little grizzle but was happy when the teacher told him i would be back after he has had morning tea and another play.
My little man really is growing up - this is the start of his formal education. I know it will be good for him, but i couldn't help the few tears i shed on the way home without him!
