my eggs!

Xander has become a big boy this week. He has given his dummy to the fairies and it is now a star in the sky! It has been really easy actually - i'd expected screaming and whatever for a few hours or more, but so far (third day!) have had nothing.
He has decided to go back to not eating dinner. A few nights he has gone to bed without dinner and then refused breakfast too, and then this morning (midnight) he threw up in his bed and has had a dodgey tummy, but seems much better now. He actually ate more today than just morning tea like Monday and Tuesday.
One of the teachers at Kindy gave him the highest compliment on Tuesday. She said he was a "really switched on dude." His mathematical concepts are completely grasped - counting, colours, shapes, sizes... it's awesome to know we have helped this come about! He now counts to 13 and then says "Monday". It's really funny.
Esmee is talking talking talking now. "oooh, AAAaaahhAA, nnnn" seems to be coming out of her all day. So not only do we have a curious social butterfly she is also going to be a chatterbox!
She also has two more teeth! they popped up last week - the next two top ones. she's a really great eater now - lets hope we don't have trouble later on with dinners!
Our little girl is nearly crawling. I say nearly cos she stretches and pushed with her toes and i have noticed she is trying to dig in with her elbows, so any day now - without pushing off whatever is available - she will be off. Of course she spins on her tummy and kicks her legs in a flying fashion. Xander is going to be in for a shock. I noticed today when she grabbed something he picked it up and put it just out of her reach (little monkey) it's going to be funny when she moves to get it!

Some photos of the week....

Xander's first drawing that actually looks like what he was drawing! It is Mike the one eyed green monster from Monster's Inc

They play so nicely in the bath together

Do you remember that Xander used to put one foot up? Esmee does two!

Esmee joining in for Morning Tea at Play Group now!

Esmee devouring a sausage for lunch - leftovers from dinner!

Xander's renditions of Mike and Sully from Monster's Inc

Xander's friend Sophie thinks he is so lucky with his cool play fort!

Little Monkeys

Esmee was supposed to be sleeping and i heard giggling from her and laughing from Xander. This is what i found....

This afternoon while Xander was sleeping Esmee decided to wave to everyone! Apparently babies start to wave about now (8 months) but she has been doing it for at least 2 months already.

The Play Fort

Well this weekend was most productive.
Alan finished the roof - with me on top putting the last two pieces on! Then he put up two of the sides (with Xander's help!)

Then up went the rungs for the ladder

this had a trap door on it too so the kids don't fall out!

and finally - Xander waiting so patiently
- the slide was bolted in place!

He had quite a few goes and just loves it.
Climbing up the ladder, going down the slide!

All it needs now is a swing

the swing will hang from this side from the beam.

and when the kids are a bit bigger, Alan will put the climbing holes on.

Esmee had a little slide but i was holding her so couldn't get a photo - next time!

8 Months Old

Esmee is only 4 months away from her 1st birthday!
Let's see: she has 4 teeth, sits by herself, sleeps all night, 2-3 little sleeps during the day, pushes herself backwards when on her tummy, streeeetches as far as she can to reach things in front of her again whilst on her tummy. She pushs Xander's cars around,

bangs on the xylophone, giggles at Xander, smiles at her daddy, practically leaps out of my arms to get into the bath, flaps her arms like a bird to pat the cat.
She understands our sign for "no more/all finished" and protests loudly (if i let her she would eat none stop all day!). She cheekily pulls a face and breathes through her nose and then smiles, is trying to talk - coos at whoever she is talking to.
She loves watching other kids, loves "if you're happy and you know it" song, and smiles widely when i say "Xander.", she is wanting a spoon too now at dinner and if we take it off her you definately feel her displeasure!...

Well her accomplishments are just too many for me to list! Let's just say she is growing up really quickly.

Feeding the Ducks

Today i decided that we needed to enjoy more of the Winter sun. So after the kids' sleep we took some bread down to the River and fed the ducks.

A dog came and scared the ducks away 3 times (where was the owner??) and we got sprayed with sand and water from the alarmed ducks flying away.

Xander enjoyed it and Esmee didn't know what to think of the noisy things!
We then continued along the river walk for a nice long walk. Xander insisted on walking the whole way so it took a long time. We had the company of a cute kitten at one stage as well.

We were out for 2 hours and it was past Esmee's sleep, and man did she let us know - oops!

on a sunny afternoon....

we collected some leaves and flowers for mother's day.

And we went to the park.
Xander did lots of climbing...
up up up!

Down the slide...
in the tunnel....
and on the swings.Esmee had her first swing too! She was fine for 10 seconds then wanted to get out.
