Goodbye Uncle Matt

Uncle Matt is now in Australia. He spent his last few days with us in Taupo and it was wonderful. We wish him all the best in his upcoming adventures and hope he has an amazing time.

It was a really hot and sunny afternoon. We gathered our swim gear and headed for the Lake for a swim and ride on the sea biscuit!

Xander had a turn with me in the big one, as did Nanna - neither liked it. Jenny had a turn and of course Matt, Alan and I had a lot of goes. Alan and Matt had heaps more than me, i'd had enough after a huge wipeout!
Was it fun or stupidity that had them going at least a dozen times and having wipes out too? We all felt it the next few days! Thanks for the fun, Grandad.

i flipped and bounced - ouch!

Happy Birthday Nanna!

It's Nanna's birthday. After the kids had their sleep we got everything ready for the bbq party that night. One of mum's friends brought a huge chocolate cake along. It was for three birthdays as they were close together.

Xander tucked in really quickly and we had a lovely bbq dinner, followed by lots of chats and then when it got dark we lit some sparklers.

Xander made a friend out of Megan, mum's friend's son's girlfriend and they built towers out of wood blocks for ages!Esmee delighted in the gnome Grandad got for christmas and put a bib on it and offered him drinks.

Boxing Day brings more presents!

a remote control!

a skate board!

Granny, Grandpa and Aunty Angelina arrived on Boxing day and we spent the afternoon and a takeaway dinner at their motel.
We opened presents, not seen are some cars, a knitted doll for Esmee, clothes for both kids and a mini trampoline - we didn't put it up until we got home:

Next day we went for a picnic lunch at a park near the Huka Falls. It was a beautiful day but the kids were knackered.

Merry Christmas!

Nanna and Grandad arrived in Taupo the day before Christmas Eve and we got to put up the Christmas tree. It was really exciting to see Xander so excited about Santa. Especially when we put some home made xmas mince pies (courtesy of nanna!) and milk for Santa on the table.

Straight after breakfast Xander went straight to their stockings and wow! Santa had been.

After sitting patiently with Grandad in front of the tree it was time for ripping open presents.

New clothes, noah's ark for Esmee and some bracelets and a necklace, a fairy outfit for dress ups, and wow a toy cot from Nanna!

Look at my beads!

Xander loved his scooter, clothes, thomas train sets, puzzle, Elmo game and the cool couch from Uncle Matt.

While Esmee had a sleep we gorged ourselves on a Turkey and trimmings lunch, yum!

Then it was time to play with the presents and have a good afternoon.

In Taupo for the Holidays

After leaving Saturday midday after swimming we arrived in Taupo at 3pm to find Uncle Matt waiting for us. We had just our family and Matt which was really good as he is now in Australia for an indefinate length of time - go Matt!
Esmee just adored him and so uncharacteristically demanded he hold her, give her hugs and spend lots of time with her - she is usually wary at first.

We took him on a bike ride and the kids loved it. Especially when we finally got to the playground an hour after we started.

Christmas Party at Lollipops

Last night was the playgroup Christmas party at Lollipops.
It was a great night. I got to sit down for most of it and Alan ran around after the kids having a great time! He joined Xander in the rat race, and was buried in the ball pit!

Esmee was stoked to be allowed to ride in the cars, and Xander loved them as always.

Of course the high-light of the evening was when Santa arrived through the kitchen door bearing gifts. He held them in rapt attention asking who had been naughty and who had been good.

Xander was a bit confused afterwards saying that daddy had pretended to be Santa but he didn't look certain (i think his t-shirt under the jacket may have gievn it away!), but after explaining to him he was convinced it was the real Santa! Of course no photo with Esmee as i was holding her and the camera when Santa called her name and my friend didn't get the picture so maybe next year!

We two, together...

dancing to the wiggles!

Esmee didn't want him to stop, but he'd had enough!

Jump, Jump, Jump

We had a little Christmas bbq at Sophie, Pam and Phillips house on Sunday and the kids just loved the little trampoline. It's great that they have so many friends with trampolines - we don't need to get one and the novelty won't wear off!
