Wacky Hat Day and Play Date

Xander had Wacky Hat Day at Kindy today.
Out came the black electrical tape and some pipecleaners and we made a bumble bee inspired hat. He thought it was awesome!

Esmee had her first solo play date today with a new friend, Imogen, who is about a month younger than her. It was so nice. They had a little tussle over some toys, each showing their own strong will, then their own lovely nature when they shared nicely and sat for a nice photo!

Lunch Date

Today we had lunch at Xander's kindy friend Douglas's house.
They were so excited they hardly ate their lunch, a lovely smorgasboard of sandwiches and fruit and crackers. Too much fun was to be had in the play house, sandpit, swing, with the trains...
The kids had so much fun.
Then they had a quiet moment with a juicy before we headed home.
Thanks for a wonderful afternoon Rebecca, Douglas and William!

Sophie, ducks and doh!

We had Sophie for the afternoon today. After kindy she came for a play as her baby brother had his swimming lesson and we decided she could stay if she wanted to.
Esmee ended up having a sleep - she has decided to pretty much drop her sleep much to my disgust and horror - so we played some board games and then went and fed the ducks.
After a quick afternoon snack both the kids and the ducks waited patiently, then the bread was thrown.
The kids thought it was hilarious to fall down and run and fall down and run all the way back up the hill to the car - such is the joy of being a kid i suppose! They ended the fun with a group hug, which is very rare for Sophie - she is not a touchy feely person like my two!

Of course, no fun day is complete without us making a dash for the doctor. Esmee climbed on the fence by the car and fell and landed on her head. After a quick exam she had some human glue - glue! - and a sticky, and with a bravery certificate we came home only 40 minutes after arriving. Very impressive. Esmee wasn't concerned either. Seemed very proud of her sticky.

Happy Birthday Dad

This morning the kids gave Alan a big box of lollies for his birthday - it was hard to decide who was more excited!

Out for tea

When Alan said he was taking us out for tea on Saturday we never thought it was all the way to Raglan, just for Fish and Chips!
It was no nice to play in the sand on the estuary, and at the park. We then walked across a narrow bridge and found the chip shop and had a picnic at the park. A very nice, different end to the start of the long weekend.

Eden's birthday

Eden's birthday is the first from our original antenatal group.
It was a huge party with about 15 kids.
Xander and Esmee had a great time. It was awesome with the bouncy castle and the jungle gym the trampoline (though i did have heart palpatations with no nets!).

Esmee and her good mate Jackson!

Esmee is growing up

She is growing up way too quickly, and is right into her role play. Of course it is easier with a big brother ready to play with her.

The doctor's set is easily turned into a hairdressers salon,

the kitchen sink into a bath tub for baa sheep

and of course she even loves helping with the real washing up!

She cut her first two year old molar today and we didn't even know it, it was just there when we brushed her teeth. Soon we will be looking at enrolling her at kids club like we did with Xander. She seems to be too little for kindy, much littler than Xander ever was - is this because she's our baby??

Xander Express

Nanna got the ride of her life when the Xander Express took off in the evening on her last night with us. They played like this for about 40 minutes and i swear they all had a grand time!
The kids sure were sad to see Nanna go home. Bring on Christmas time when we go for a week or a few days to Taupo while Daddy works during the holidays.

Black Eyed Peas and Dr Feelgood

Last night Alan and I went to the Black Eyed Peas concert in Auckland and Nanna stayed and looked after the kids. It was a great night and a very welcome first break we've had from the kids. The crowds were huge, the music loud and our hotel was really nice.

Today when we got home Alan played doctors with the kids, much to their delight and mine and Nanna's amusement. We aren't too sure about this Dr Feelgood. Telling his patients they have to stay bandaged for 3 years! And just look at how he bandaged them!

Nanna comes and Athletics!

Nanna arrived by plane today and the kids were so excited at the airport they screamed with delight every time an aeroplane took off or landed, "Nanna's here!"

Tonight was Xander's first night at Athletics. There were so many kids there but apparently this gets culled down as kids decide they don't like it.

Xander and Esmee decided to run the whole 400m track before athletics had even started. Esmee tried to keep up but quickly lagged behind calling "Z-ha, wait me!" It was so cute.
Xander had a great time. He was so good at the egg and spoon activity, the moon hopper and the sack hopping. When it was time for the walking with the hoop he had some difficulty but he did well and really got into swinging it over his head in the end.

Last of all, all the kids had to line up in their age groups and run a race. Xander ran from me to Alan. He was so excited and didn't care a fig that he came last!

Bathurst BBQ

Today we went to Pam, Phillip Sophie and Jackson's for a bbq while the men sat and watched the end of the car racing.
The kids played outside on the trampoline, in the garage and inside.
At the end of the night we found the three of them tucked up on Sophie's bed reading a bed time story! So great.

Donkey Farm

On 22 September, Pam and Sophie took Esmee on the playgroup outing to the Donkey Farm. I took Aunty Angelina to the airport and really wanted Esmee to go so Pam offered.
Apparently Esmee wouldn't go anywhere near the donkeys, but from what i see from the photos, she got to feed a goat, watched some chickens, looked at a calf, rode a horse (pretend of course!), drove a truck, went for a ride with Sophie and bounced on the tramp. Oh and don't forget the sandpit! No wonder she slept 3.5 hours that day. Thanks Pam :)
