Out for a milkshake and cake after being good while running some errands. Life is good when you're a kid!

Xander has been working wonders at the woodwork table at kindy.
He has created a door stop made from corks, and a frame which i think we should put on the wall as a shadow box for his cars or his other creations or paintings.
Esmee has even joined in a time or two with the drill and even the hammer.
Over the weekend i helped them create some frames - although Xander calls his a workbench! but it was broken that same afternoon when they fought.
I'm loving how our kids are so creative and into building things with their hands. I hope they take this creativity with them into their adult lives, we just have to make sure we keep fostering it, but only if they want to!

Saturday was Xander's first Soccer game, Giants v Swarm. It was so cute, little 4 and 5 year old, like watching bees after honey. Our team won, 6-5.
Xander was like a little bulldog, first one to the ball and he stuck to it, head down arms swinging, just had to shuffle his feet to reposition himself to get a boot in, but he will get his balance. No goal this time from our Soccer star, but he had a blast! That is all we ask, and it was awesome. We took a video of the entire thing and are very proud parents.
Our team the Giants did an awesome job! Well done team (well done Coach, hehe!)

Xander is fascinated with numbers.
He can count, often with prompting to 101. That seems to be far enough for his fabulous mind thank you very much! But sometimes he likes the number 166.
He is always asking us:
"mum, what number are you?"
Xander: "Wow, that's lots."
the other morning he said "mum, you're 19"
to dad: "Your 90!"
dad "That's not nice!"
Too bad he doesn't actually understand what they mean....

Xander and Esmee are enrolled this term at gym, yes both in the same class at the same time!
It is awesome. They had such an awesome time. Confident, they hardly needed any help even on the beam!
I was a bit worried when they both started climbing up the wall, i only have one set of arms to catch if they BOTH fell, so that was a bit stressful, but we got through it.
The day was extremely busy with both of them being at kindy in the morning then going immediately to gym after a quick lunch at a friend's, then home for a quick rest and then soccer practice, so of course i had a headache. Luckily Alan came home in time and took Xander but it meant i missed his first practice, but i aim to be there next week, and change the day for gym too to avoid the hectic schedule!

Alan and i had a 'Date Night' with each of the kids. He took Esmee out for dinner. She was so excited and got dressed up in her tutu and wore her special bracelet.
Xander and i stayed home and made pizza. It was so lovely.
Each of us having some alone time with our children after having a few turbulent days, i think it has done some good, made everyone feel a bit special!

Our Easter weekend was a busy one.
Granny and Grandpa joined us and we painted the entire fence, planted the vege garden and even did some small jobs around the house like the draught stop on the front door and hemming my jeans.
Of course on easter Sunday after banana pancakes
the kids had an easter egg hunt!
And we went to the Hamilton Gardens for a picnic lunch.

Our kids are so busy. Creative, artistic.
I turned up to kindy early one day and found Xander busy at the wood work table building a frame. Apparently he had been there all morning.
And here is Esmee's ogre from when they had 'O' week at kindy.
And Xander's swing painting. They filled drink bottles with runny paint and glue and swung them to make the patterns. Amazing! Going to frame this one. Or laminate it.

Playgroup have been a few times to the various fire stations in Hamilton over the years that i have been involved or going but every time we have missed it. First time Xander and i had terrible colds, second time Esmee was born only two days before the trip to the Anglesea St Station.
Until now! We went to the Pukete Fire Station!
Xander got the day off Kindy to come and both he and Esmee were so excited. We got to sit inside the Fire truck, stand on the front of the truck, meet the fire fighters and then something special... i got to try a different role for a few minutes and Xander got to too!
Then all the kids were in for a treat when the firetruck had it's siren and light show (it was a bit loud!) but heaps of fun!
