Early Christmas

For the last week of my Practicum Alan took the kids to Wellington: it coincided with two Pheonix games on back to back Sundays.
When they came home on the Monday they brought with them Granny and Grandpa.
We had a busy week of shopping, school pickups, going out to dinner to celebrate Henny and Dave's 21st wedding anniversary, yucca cut down and tip trip, picking Angelina up at the airport, Xander had a birthday party, and a combined birthday for Dave and Early Christmas.

Here are the photos :)

Heigh Ho

Heigh ho, heigh ho, it's off to work i go...

I finished my ECE diploma on Monday, had an interview on Tuesday and today i was offered a contract for the job!
Assuming the contract is up to scratch (Alan will review it) i will be entering the workforce on 21 January! So excited to be finally helping the family financially.
Of course when i told the kids Esmee promptly cried saying she doesn't want me to go to work 'cos she doesn't want to go to after school care! And Xander just went silent with his disapproving sulky face. So cute. But after i explained the benefits, there was a slight lift in spirits.
After their week off in Wellington and this week of school wind up they are very tired.
Hopefully they will be as excited as Alan and I when they see the benefits - maybe a holiday next year!

Once Upon A Dance...

Last week Esmee had her first Ballet performance at Founders Theatre.
She coped really well with the numerous rehearsals, dress rehearsals and late night show. We are very proud of her!

Xander gets Published

Do you know where I went on Monday? Yes! I went to the museum to learn about traditional Māori games with Room 15.Should I tell you what the games where called? There was porotaka, ma penei ma pena, taniwha taniwha and poutoti. We used Mr T, a wood carving for the game ma penei ma pena. Taniwhai, taniwha was like a hand-shake game. It was so much fun. When we walked into the museum it looked like a whare. I felt excited and some of us did our mihi.We all sung a waiata and then lined up for a tongi with Nathan.By Xander Hearfield, Room 15

This was featured in last weeks school newsletter! They did the typo Xander informs me, it should be "hongi".

Well done, Xander!!

Xander turns 7

7 years ago at 2:52 in the afternoon, Xander arrived via emergency c-section. Weighing in at 8lb 14oz (4050gms) he was beautiful.

Today he turned 7 and i can still remember laying my eyes on him for the first time - i couldn't stop looking at him!
He had a great time with his friends today, watching a movie, making pizza, eating icecream. Oh to be 7 again!

Now we can gear up for Christmas....

Happy Birthday!

Alan was very excited this year for his birthday, and he didn't know why?
Perhaps it was because the kids chose his presents - he got a nerf gun from Xander and a set of Alan keys from Esmee. I bought him some cologne he liked last year.
We made him cakes - he took two to work on the Friday for morning tea.
And on Saturday I made a Beetroot Seed Cake - delicious! Just like a carrot cake only with Beetroot :)

Where are Miss Bo Beep's Sheep?

Esmee's first Ballet show is at the end of this month. The calendar is full with dress rehearsals and extra practices.
Here are some photos of Esmee in her costume - the ears haven't been made yet. I'll add updated ones when we see them!

Crazy men and scooters!

The weekend just gone saw us in Taupo. Saturday morning was spent getting all geared up and ready... for a scooter race.
The scooter had been in production for months bought on trademe for $81 (hence the team name!), the team was kitted out with t-shirts and caps, all we needed was a good day....
We got rain and wind. Lots of it! Until the race finished of course.

pumped to start!

33 teams getting ready to go!

this happened a lot - it got even more muddy!

placed 22nd, completed 45 laps
Next year, the boys are thinking of getting a second scooter - one with thinner wheels in case the weather is this bad in March!

Reloved Vintage

A friend makes and sell beautiful things with old plates and cup and saucers, and jars.
She makes lovely vanilla or citronella candles, plate clocks, etc.
This week she gave me my lovely clock which i chose because it matches the colours in our house perfectly.
Next i have my eye on a vanilla hurricane jar candle with handle!

If you'd love one of your own, visit her website

Esmee's Epic Birthday Weekend!!

So officially Esmee is 5 tonight at 9:30pm, but it was celebration time all weekend for us.
Saturday saw family arrive from Taupo and Wellington. The boys went and watched Alan's last soccer game (neither team scored a goal) and the ladies and Xander went to Chartwell chocolate lounge for a fluffy and chocolate.
Esmee was very lucky to be bought some fancy light up shoes as a present!
The evening was capped off with pizza, watching the rugby and a yummy sponge cake filled with lemon curd!

new shoes!

singing the national anthem!
Sunday morning we were up bright and early getting ready for her pajama breakfast party, complete with pancakes, waffles, pass the parcel, musical statues and of course cake (or in this case icecream cupcakes!).

exhausted Alan and Buster!

Granny and Esmee playing with the new Barbie house!

Thank you to everyone for an awesome birthday for our special Princess.

This morning we were up and early and ready for school. Esmee told me about 5 minutes before the school bell that i can go now. Our baby is a baby no longer - but i'll forever see her as such!!
