Fun with Uncle Matt

To finish off the school holidays and spend some quality time with Uncle Matt, we went mini golfing in Calum Brae.
It was so fun! I really suck, the clubs are too long for poor Esmee but she was determined, Xander got two hole in one's and Matt won!

Xander really enjoyed it and has asked everyday to go back again - i think it may be a family outing coming up!

Interior Makeover

The kids, the dog and i went to Taupo for the Easter break. Alan stayed at home. He had some helpers (thanks Henny and Dave) and then arrived in Taupo on Monday morning, really early. Would not tell us what had been done and alluded to the need for me to be prepared to do a lot of work. So i geared myself up for painting.
And then i walked through my front door....

Painted in Resene Mondo.
walls are Resene Blanc - a creamy white
the kitchen (one wall of green) apparently there was a paint pot in the garage.

Mondo down the one wall of the hall, behind the fire and in the office.

The only things needed to be done are behind the hallway doors, the inside frame of the kitchen doorway and a few touch ups. Awesome, awesome job my darling husband :D

Happy Birthday Pa!

We missed you Pa when we tried to ring so here is your birthday message from your awesome Grandkids! We hope you had a fantastic birthday :)

Seeing the Chiropractor

You know i have been seeing the Chiropractor. Apparently it is good for kids to see a chiro as well, it helps to maintain balance in their nervous system to ensure no or minimal illnesses and problems in later life. Also, your spine houses your central nervous system which is responsible for EVERYTHING in your body. Even being stressed and eating the wrong foods impacts on it!

Well, while i'm seeing the Chiro, the kids are free so i thought, why not?!
Our chiro does scans of the spine and muscle activity whilst seated (so no movement) with a special sensor and also a few muscle tests.
Imagine my horror when i see the kids results!

my results when i first went because of my neck and headaches

So, All the black in Esmee is bad. Pretty much though she has problems with the first bone in the neck, then T1 and 4 (shoulder and rib area) and scarily around her lumber and kidney area - this is consistent with her digestive problems.

Xander has less black but still way more red and everything than i expected! Xander's muscle test revealed that he is weaker down his right side than his left. He has 3 bones in his neck indicating problems, his middle back and his lumbar.

**I do have to wonder how accurate the readings are though, because even seated and trying to sit still kids move a lot! But my chiro did say that problems hide when in young children and show up later (teens). And the patterns on inconsistencies in their readings are similar to mine and i so don't want them to go through what i have!!

my 4 weeks progress scan

And i feel fantastic! From the scans you can see all the central problems have cleared up, my twisted pelvis is corrected and the only thing left really is my neck (It's a bit like untwisting a piece of string, it takes time!). I have had only 1 significant headache in the last 3 weeks (previously it was a few every day!), so i am happy with the results and am positive that it is a good thing for the kids too.

What do you think?

Easter break in Taupo

(sans Alan who stayed at home to paint the interior!)
The kids and i spent the long weekend in Taupo and we even managed a spot of touristy things too.
The Honey Hive - which the kids liked for about 5 minutes until they got a yummy honey icecream! Followed by the Aratiatia Dam, which was a hit. I guess lots of gushing water has more fascination for kids than a shop full of honey inspired products. LOL!

5-10 mins after!
And of course no trip to Taupo is complete without a cruise on the Lake! And Xander insisted we do a spot of fishing, and we had the bonus of actually catching a delicious Trout!

Little Monkey

Every day when i pick up Esmee from Montessori i ask "what did you do today?" and her reply is invariably "The monkeybars."
She has blisters and calluses on her palms. And finally, finally she can swing from one end to the other and you can watch it!

(please let me know if it doesn't work!)

Girl's Weekend

The boys flew to Wellington on Thursday night to watch the Phoenix kick butt against Sydney (which they did!) and Esmee and I got to spend lots of QT together!

We had homemade pizza on Friday night, then on Saturday morning we got all ready for the Angelina Ballerina's Big Audition show performed by RNZB at Founders Theatre. It was fantastic! A wonderful first time experience for our own little ballerina.

And, even though i cringed at the price, i couldn't resist purchasing the plush toy as a souvenir for Esmee's memories!

We cuddled up on the couch that evening with burgers and watched a Disney movie.

Sunday morning saw us at more ballet fun at Limelight Dancing where one of the RNZB ballerina's, Hannah ran a workshop for 30 girls (3 classes of 34 mins long, each with 30 girls i believe!). It's easy to find Esmee, she's the one in black! (Her choice which she later complained she should have chosen her pink outfit!!)
This was an awesome way to round off the Ballet experience. Hannah showed the girls some ballet positions, taught them a little dance (watch the video!) and showed them pointe shoes and a gorgeous tutu!
The photos were all taken by Esmee's ballet teacher Mrs Mills who posted them on facebook, and they are better than the photos i took! Enjoy!

Chuffed that she got to sit right next to a real Ballerina!

gorgeous! (Esmee is in the bottom right corner with the french plaits!)
And the dance:
